Red DT invites you to the 6th Territorial Development Week 2021

The Red para el Desarrollo Territorial (Red DT), announced that the registration process to participate in the 6th edition of the Territorial Development Week is now open. Registration can be done at the following link: https://semanadt.org/inscripcion and you will be able to participate in live virtual conferences with national and international exhibitors, talks, panels with key actors, dialogues, launches and interactive dynamics, among other activities.

Enrique Merlos, from the Red DT Secretariat, informed that the main objectives of the Territorial Development Week is to place the topic in the "national public agenda to increase the discussion and understanding of the topic by diverse actors of the salvadoran society; as well as to improve the communication and coordination between the networks that promote Territorial Development with government institutions, the private sector, the media and cooperation entities".

He also explained that the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes that are being generated in Latin American countries and territories, "forces us to rethink the processes and dialogue on priority issues and the actors with whom we must work to promote territorial development in the coming years. So, in 2021, the central theme of our annual event will be:

"The Future of Territorial Development; we will be holding events from november 22 to 26," he said.

He also announced that, on each day, there will be a keynote presentation by two experts, a panel of actors related to the topics and contests with the participants.

Among the topics that have been included for the 6th Territorial Development Week are: "The future of territorial development in Latin America", "Youth, technology and territorial development", "Environment, climate change and territorial development", "Institutionality and legal framework for territorial development", "The future of territorial development in El Salvador".

The #SemanaDT will have national and international speakers: Ismael Toloza, from Chile, Natalia Fenizi, from Argentina, Pedro Buttenbender, from Brazil, Alicia Frohmann, from Chile and Enrique Gallicchio, from Uruguay; who will provide on the first day of the event (Monday, november 22), a broad overview on the Future of Territorial Development in Latin America. On this day, Enrique Merlos, from La Red DT Secretariat, will be moderating the panel. This day will also feature opening remarks by the Vice President of El Salvador, Felix Ulloa.

The second day (Tuesday, november 23) will discuss the topic: Youth, Technology and Territorial Development with keynote presentations by: Sergio Zafra, from Colombia and Diego Echegoyen, from El Salvador. Within the panel of actors will participate Diego de León from Guatemala, the mayor of Sacacoyo, Mayra Zetino and the mayor of Apastepeque, Samuel Carrillo, as moderator will be Alejandra Rivera from Let ́s do it and there will be the experience of Jonathan Casco, from La Maker Cueva.

The third day of the #SemanaDT (Wednesday, november 24) will talk about Environment, climate change and territorial development, there will be the participation of: Silvia Vides, from OCR.

El Salvador, Jorge Oviedo, from FIAES, also, in the panel of actors will be: Jaime de Paz, mayor of Santa Cruz Michapa, Héctor Aguirre, from Red Río Lempa, Juan Marco Álvarez, from Acción Climática and as moderator Karla Paz from Migueleños en Acción.

On the fourth day (Thursday, november 25) the topic will be: Institutionality and legal framework for territorial development, with the keynote address by: Nelson Saule, from Brazil, Jean Roch, from Guatemala and within the panel of actors will be: María Ofelia Navarrete, Minister of Local Development, Yonny Marroquín from the Ministry of Governance and Territorial Development, Anaclaudia Rossbach, from Cities Alliance and as moderator Natalia Rivera, from the Secretariat of La Red DT.

The fifth and last day of the #SemanaDT (Friday, november 26), will discuss the topic: The future of territorial development in El Salvador, with a keynote speech by Oscar Cabrera, from FUDECEN and Iliana Segovia, from the CODET Network. Also invited to the panel of actors will be Beeddy Botto, Mayor of Candelaria de La Frontera; Diego Recalde, representative of FAO El Salvador; Fermina Cárdenas of Grupo CASSA and Rommy Jiménez of the Red CODET as moderator.

The 6th Territorial Development Week is carried out thanks to the support of international organizations such as: the Hanns Seidel Stiftung, the Instituto Republicano Internacional (IRI), the World Bank, Ford Foundation, Global Water Partnership (Central America) and Ofam.

This edition also has the support of several national and international networks, as well as various NGOs, foundations and universities linked to the theme of territorial development.
