BANDESAL and ISDEMU sign agreement to generate opportunities for salvadoran women entrepreneurs

Written by Alondra Gutiérrez

The agreement will have a duration of 12 months, from its effective date. It may be extended by decision of both governmental institutions.

The Banco de Desarrollo de El Salvador (BANDESAL) and the Instituto Salvadoreño para el Desarrollo de la Mujer (ISDEMU) signed a cooperation agreement to provide ISDEMU's female entrepreneurs and businesswomen with lines of credit, guarantees, training programs, and business training to improve their personal and family life conditions.

"We are going to deliver around $100,000 in non-reimbursable funds so that ISDEMU can implement policies to support women", said Juan Pablo Durán, president of BANDESAL.

The agreement establishes that BANDESAL will provide the design and implementation of capacity building processes in the areas of business training, financial education, and bankable business plans. This is included in the curriculum for users of the Departmental Care Centers, ISDEMU Protection Centers and those women who are in a state of vulnerability.

ISDEMU will make available the platform of its Specialized Training Unit for BANDESAL to provide financial education courses to salvadoran women. "Women play a fundamental role in the development of the country", said Maria Lilian Lopez, executive director of ISDEMU.
