Written by Evelyn Alas

For several years, Bancoagrícola has been committed to innovation and digital transformation to promote sustainable economic development for the well-being of all. To continue being the financial ally of individuals and companies, in 2020 Bancoagrícola launched the Wompi payment gateway, with the objective of providing businesses with more payment and acceptance alternatives, increasing their digital sales and facilitating the lives of consumers; and today, this platform continues to evolve: Now the Wompi App is also POS.

"The Wompi App has continued to strengthen its functionalities to meet the needs of the digital world that we move in today, where we can overcome the borders in the markets and offer a product that has it all, and continue to promote sustainable economic development, to achieve the welfare of all. We must take advantage of the potential offered by digital technology to develop tools that facilitate the lives of our clients and partners, and their access to the formal financial system", said Sebastián Mora Thiriez, Vice President of Development of Bancoagrícola.

Wompi users will be able to receive contactless payments (Visa and Mastercard) quickly, easily and securely by turning their Wompi App into a POS. They only need to have a Smartphone with Android operating system with a version greater than or equal to 8.0 and with NFC antenna.

"This evolution of the Wompi App will bring many benefits for salvadoran businesses, because this way, users can have more options in their business and accept physical card payments; undertake and receive payments in their own way; have a POS anywhere and anytime and sell fast and easy at fairs or cultural events. With Wompi, we are supporting salvadoran businesses and promoting sustainable economic development for the well-being of all", said the vice president.

Through the Wompi app, individuals and businesses can share payment links for their customers via social networks and email; they can also turn their cell phone into a virtual data phone or integrate payment services into a website. So far in 2022, Wompi has invoiced more than $8.29 MM with more than 92,300 transactions; and has more than 8,500 users.

In this way, the financial institution strengthens its digital services, incorporating solutions that enable self-management, and developing more secure mechanisms so that customers can access their funds, make purchases and pay online with confidence and from wherever they are.

As the bank of salvadorans, Bancoagrícola seeks to make life easier for salvadorans and continues to strengthen its Digital Transformation strategy to continue providing agile and efficient solutions that promote sustainable economic development and financial inclusion in the country.
