2023 will mark Tag Airlines' consolidation as Mundo Maya airline

Written by Evelyn Alas

In 2023, TagAirlines, Guatemala's flag carrier, will complete its modernization and transformation process to consolidate its role as the airline of the Mayan World par excellence.

Julio Gamero, CEO of TagAirlines, assured that the new year will be one of great challenges and opportunities for commercial aviation, travel and international tourism.

He said that the airline welcomes the new year with a clear strategy that will allow it to advance in the strengthening of the air fleet, with the incorporation of two additional ATR 72 aircraft, for a total of four new aircraft.

In addition, the company is preparing the operation of new routes that will expand air connectivity in Central America and southern Mexico.

It will also strengthen promotional strategies and relationships with commercial partners, destinations and tour operators, through its participation in international events such as FITUR, ANATO and the Tianguis Turístico México 2023, among others.

In taking stock of the actions undertaken by the company, Julio Gamero highlighted that in 2022 TagAirlines transported more than 295,000 passengers, which represented a growth of 169 percent compared to the volume of transfers reported the previous year.

He highlighted that a very important event was the official appointment by the Government of the Republic of Guatemala as the "Flag Airline" of the nation, in recognition of the company's trajectory in favor of aviation, connectivity and development.

In addition, in 2022 it also began operating new air routes: the one connecting Guatemala City with Oaxaca and Tuxtla Gutiérrez, and also the new route between the cities of San Salvador and Roatán.

Thanks to the joint work with authorities and commercial partners, and to the trust of our passengers, the company continues on the path of flying higher to new horizons. TagAirlines currently operates 47 daily flights with a commercial fleet of 12 aircraft and connects five countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Mexico. In the case of Mexico, it flies from Guatemala City to Cancun, Merida, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Tapachula and Oaxaca; it also operates the Cancun-Flores and Merida-Flores routes.
