The president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, made a verification of prices and inventories in the production plant Huevos El Granjero, in order to guarantee fair prices and the existence of the product, to ensure food security of citizens.

"We are carrying out the verifications and information requirements to be able to establish their cost structure and to be able to rule out any unjustified price increase, we know that the Consumer Protection Law establishes that the unjustified increase can be sanctioned for up to 500 minimum wages", commented Salazar.

During the inspection, the Government confirmed that the Huevos El Granjero production plant is operating normally and that its supply levels are in compliance with the national market.

"It is working normally, with an important level of supply; something that has been shared with us is that, as a result of the security plans that the Central Government has implemented, the routes have increased and there are places where previously the distribution levels did not reach", said President Salazar.

The general manager of Huevos El Granjero, Rodolfo Borja, highlighted the importance of this type of verification, as it confirms the supply of the salvadoran market and compliance with the requirements of the industry.

"The company complies with all the sanitary and logistical requirements that are demanded", he said.

To date, during the year 2023, the Defensoría del Consumidor has conducted about 3,000 verifications nationwide, which includes the different agents in the supply chain, both importers, packers, wholesale distributors, retailers, supermarkets and markets, to prevent abuses to the economy of the population.
