Written by Evelyn Alas

Today the Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa, delivered the "Casas Malla" project to 13 families living in the Housing Complex of the municipality of Carolina, in the eastern part of the country.

The Commission seeks to enable the inhabitants of this community to generate their own income by planting and harvesting vegetables, thus improving their quality of life.

The "Casas Malla" have a drip and spray irrigation system, a form of production that does not require the use of agrochemicals.

In addition, CEL's goal is for people to obtain healthy, organic vegetables for sale and consumption, making families more productive and self-sufficient.
