In order to guarantee salvadoran families the consumption of basic grains, vegetables, fruits and other crops, congressmen reformed, with 73 votes, the Special and Transitory Provisions to combat inflation in the prices of agricultural inputs.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the World Food Program (WFP), gave more than 4,300 small farmers in the country an insurance policy, which will be effective in case weather problems affect their crops.

Each policy is for US$500, an amount that will allow producers to restart their businesses in the event of crop losses due to the aforementioned weather conditions, through the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) and the World Food Program (WFP), a strategic ally of this administration.

Farmers from Mercedes Umaña, Berlín, Santa Elena, Jucuarán, Jucuapa and Jiquilisco are withdrawing their Agricultural Packages in order to start planting grains; in addition, farmers receive technical assistance to ensure the proper use of inputs and to motivate beneficiaries to apply Buenas Prácticas Agrícolas (BPA).

The delivery of agricultural packages continues in the west of the country, and thousands of small producers of basic grains are grateful for the support of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería which joins efforts with municipalities and other government institutions to increase national production and ensure food security.

Today a new group of skilled agricultural workers will travel to Canada thanks to the Labor Migration Program.

According to Bloomberg magazine, close to 2 million small farmers in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras who operate without insurance despite the increased frequency of hurricanes in recent months, will receive support from international institutions such as the World Bank.

The Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG), has delivered aid, consisting of agricultural inputs, to thousands of farmers, to maintain the projection of basic grains harvest and ensure food security for the population, despite the damage to crops left by tropical storm Julia.

The basic grains harvest for the period 2022-2023 will begin in the coming weeks and the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG), has made significant progress in preparing the optimal conditions to achieve good results.
