In recognition of its leadership in innovative and sustainable solutions for construction, Holcim El Salvador receives the CHAMPIONS OF SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION / 2022 AWARD given each year by the El Salvador Green Building Council (ESGBC), a non-profit organization that promotes leadership and ecological awareness in the construction market to achieve sustainable development in the country.

Holcim El Salvador's outstanding participation in a series of projects that promote good environmental practices, its commitment to sustainable construction, and its progress towards its goal of decarbonization are among the factors evaluated to give the company this award in the category LEADING COMPANY COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY 2022.

"We highlight the work of those who genuinely get involved with the objective of our organization, through their corporate actions, activities, and transforming from their own environment the way in which sustainability acquires, as a replicating effect that inspires and spreads to the rest of the sector, uniting the construction community with a single spirit", said Diana Guerra, executive director of El Salvador Green Building Council.

During the presentation of this recognition, the inspiration generated by Holcim El Salvador's work improving environmental performance in its operations, generating a positive impact on sustainable construction with the ECOPlanet line of cements and ECOPact concretes that reduce the carbon footprint (CO₂) and other strategies aimed at moving from the linear economy to a circular one that allows preserving and recycling resources by giving them a new purpose, was highlighted.

At Holcim we are reinventing the way in which we build and addressing the main challenges that arise on a global scale and that are not alien to El Salvador. We are generating solutions to contribute to the construction of progress for people and the planet and being recognized for this effort is another boost to continue on this path", said Rodrigo Gallardo, CEO of Holcim El Salvador.

As part of the award ceremony, Holcim El Salvador was recognized for its efforts through Geocycle, which during 2022 has made great strides towards circularity in the sustainable management of municipal waste with the inauguration of the first municipal solid waste separation station in the country.

About the Sustainable Construction Champions Awards

It is a special recognition for companies, institutions, professionals, firms and industry leaders who have stood out for their work in favor of the ESGBC's mission and vision. This has been awarded since the beginning of the organization, with the first edition in 2016. Year after year, the analysis of the work, projects, impact and leadership in sustainability in the sector is established.

Part of the criteria for the selection is the number of sustainable solutions for the market, which promote collaborative, multidisciplinary work and impact to communities and the generation of partnerships, so that the solutions, projects and works guarantee social benefits and welfare, economic savings and low environmental impact.

For the 2022 edition, in addition to Holcim El Salvador, Fundación Parque Cuscatlán was recognized as Exemplary Impact Project for the city and Berenice Campos, The Cleaning Compan as Champions de la construcción.
