Davivienda and Tin Marin join Global Money Week celebration

Written by Evelyn Alas

Banco Davivienda Salvadoreño continues working to promote financial education; therefore, as part of its commitment in this area, this year it joins again the Global Money Week, an initiative of Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam, which seeks to achieve new advances in this important topic from childhood and adolescence.

Global Money Week is an event that takes place in more than 175 countries and provides an opportunity to address the concerns of children and adolescents around the world about money and finance through activities promoted by governments, financial institutions and the education sector, which are important windows to instill in them savings, financial planning and the importance of working for their dreams.

In El Salvador this event is developed by the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR).

The global initiative has the following objectives: to increase the level of financial knowledge in people through the dissemination of preventive and corrective educational information; to promote, through financial education, the empowerment of users and consumers of financial products and services; and to transmit to families relevant knowledge about the necessary financial tools that allow them to improve their decision making for life.

On this occasion, as part of this global initiative, Davivienda in alliance with Tin Marín will present certificates to children and adolescents who have completed all the courses provided in the portal "Mis Finanzas en Casa" and "Monetarium", from San Salvador, Santa Tecla and Usulután, in coordination with the municipalities of these localities.

"In Davivienda we enrich the lives of people and the planet thanks to the transformative power of our business models, from which we seek to create a culture of constant savers and responsible debtors, with a focus on proper money management to achieve financial well-being. As Davivienda, we reiterate our commitment to influence the education of children, so that they can have a prosperous future, fulfilling their dreams and projects", explained Gabriela Quirós, Sustainability Coordinator of  Banco Davivienda Salvadoreño.

Commitment to Financial Education

As part of its sustainability strategy, Banco Davivienda is committed to financial education. One of its pillars in the promotion of this topic is the portal " Mis Finanzas en Casa ", which seeks to strengthen the understanding of the products and services offered by the bank, to develop in families the skills and confidence necessary to make sound decisions about the family economy and improve their quality of life.

As a special section for children between the ages of 6 and 12, within Mis Finanzas en Casa is "Monetarium", which has been renovated for easy access through cell phones; it also incorporates new functionalities that support and reinforce the learning process and allow access to an easy understanding of the financial world.

To date there are more than 17,716 people registered and 19,622 interactions with content (Videos, stories, worlds, games, etc.) for free in monetarium.co
