This cooperation will build on the experience, expertise and reach of both organizations to promote efforts to connect the unconnected and advocate for better policies for the future of connectivity in Latin America and the Caribbean.
"The mobile industry has become the great enabler of business and society. We believe that, to maximize the benefits of a fully connected Latin America, it is critical that all stakeholders work together in developing digital skills and promoting the expansion of mobile connectivity for all citizens", said Lucas Gallitto, GSMA Director for Latin America.
"We are committed to promoting the development of the ICT industry, to working together with our partners, and to our responsibility as a company with the deployment of digital infrastructure and the improvement of digital conditions for all", said Michael Xue, vice president of public affairs and communications for Huawei Latin America and the Caribbean.
Finally, Michael Xue added: "The digital era is with us here and now. In the meantime, we see many challenges and areas where we can work together with the GSMA for the public good and join efforts to help the sustainable development of Latin America in digital terms, which includes both infrastructure and boosting talent in the region".
Huawei arrived in Latin America in 1998 and has been an important partner in the region's digital transformation over the past decades. It has significantly increased its investment in corporate social responsibility in recent years, especially in connectivity, talent and sustainability.
The GSMA is the global trade association representing mobile operators and organizations across the mobile ecosystem and adjacent industries.
