Movistar promotes equality between men and women in the workplace

Written by Evelyn Alas

As part of its commitment to build an environment with gender equality, Movistar El Salvador trained 61 employees in prevention of violence against women and good practices to promote labor equality.

The workshop was given by the Director of the women and gender area of the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF), Laura Aragón Castro.

The training provided participants with the opportunity to make a first critical and personal reflection on gender equality, giving them the tools to break stereotypes and give equal opportunities to all in society.

This workshop is the first result of the alliance that Movistar makes with PADF by joining the program "Empowerment and decent and innovative job opportunities for young salvadoran women in STEM areas", which is supported by Asociación Muchas Más and USAID, to commit to work for equal opportunities.

"Leading the telecommunications market not only implies offering the best connectivity for salvadorans, but it must also be done by giving equal opportunities to people, based solely on individual talent and not on their gender status. We know that working for equality will have a transformational effect within our company, but also in society", said Eduardo Solórzano, director of Corporate Affairs at Movistar.

Together with PADF, Movistar will continue to promote actions such as: awareness talks, support in the implementation of equality plans and gender audits. All this with the commitment to create equal spaces between men and women, prevent violence against women and offer the same opportunities to all.

The alliance with PADF confirms Movistar's commitment to equality, since in 2022 it signed the Women's Empowerment Principles, a UN Women initiative that will allow companies to align their corporate policies with global Sustainable Development standards and be pioneers in the markets where they operate.

Movistar El Salvador strengthens its role as a multi-strategic ally in the country's economy and society by responsibly guaranteeing high quality connectivity for salvadorans, under a sustainability approach seeking equal opportunities for all.
