Chevron, through its TEXACO brand, together with its strategic ally Glasswing International, launched the Social Investment initiatives for 2023, through which it will support Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) projects and sports schools in public schools.

In 2023, the company will benefit six schools where it will equip institutions in El Salvador with sports and technological elements, tools and training for computer teachers so that children and young people can integrate new knowledge and skills as part of their educational activities.

Texaco, through its programs, aims to provide the educational community with the opportunity to access training through STEAM areas, increasing their opportunities to enter the labor market.  In addition, contributing to the physical development and entertainment for children and young people through sports clubs.

Using the "Energiza tu Escuela" model and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Texaco will impact the General Ramón Belloso, República de El Salvador, Pablo Sexto, Complejo Educativo General Gerardo Barrios, in the department of San Salvador; and Complejo Educativo René Armando Arce Suarez, Complejo Educativo Ingeniero Rodolfo Enríquez Varela Manzano, in the municipality of Acajutla, in Sonsonate; impacting 380 students and more than 100 teachers.

The six institutions will receive a STEAM kit which includes: 1 STEAM Gear Set, 1 Solar Energy Set and a computer. Teachers at each school will be trained on the correct use of the STEAM kits. Likewise, the four schools in San Salvador will also receive a donation of sports equipment and soccer clubs will be established, culminating with an inter-school tournament.

With the new component of the program, and through the support of the Ministerio de Educación, USAID and the Alcaldía de San Salvador, we seek to create spaces to share experiences and strengthen the knowledge of the children and youth of the schools that benefit from the program.

Chevron has 14 years, betting on sustainable initiatives of high social impact that contribute to the integral formation and access to opportunities that transform the quality of life of children, young people and many salvadoran families in the communities where it operates.

It has invested $950,000.00 in Social Investment programs, impacting more than 166,000 people, generating spaces to learn, share experience, strengthen knowledge and provide tools to obtain better opportunities.
