From january 1 to date we have registered one million 365 thousand 500 foreigners who have entered the country through the different border points", confirmed the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería (DGME).

International surfing tournaments, concerts by world-class artists and the various tourist sites that the country offers make it attractive for foreigners visiting the territory.

Likewise, the Aeropuerto Internacional San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez has registered more than 696,000 entries to the country so far this year, among salvadoran and foreign citizens.

The modernization of the Dirección General de Migración by the Central Government has allowed the reconstruction of a better infrastructure of the border precincts to provide a better attention to travelers.

Border areas are also guarded by the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería (DGME) together with the Government's security forces. "On a daily basis we contribute to national security, we have permanent presence along 852 km of border lines bordering Guatemala and Honduras. Our main mission is to prevent and combat cross-border crimes.
