Government warns people not to download the wrong Chivo Wallet

Written by Evelyn Alas

The Chivo Wallet will be available starting tomorrow as reported by the Central Government, but they warn that any other similar application that is before the official launch should not download it because it is fake and will not ask for money to receive the US$30 equivalent bonus in the cryptocurrency.

In addition, the Central Government warns that the real and original application must be confirmed by the developer and people who wish to download the application will be able to download it for free from the digital stores of Android, iOS and Huawei operating systems.

Salvadorans who download Chivo Wallet should take into account the following:

When the user searches for Chivo Wallet in the digital store of their choice, the legend "Gobierno de El Salvador" must be written, next to the image or logo of the application, without punctuation or exclamation marks.

Thus, applications that are promoted as Chivo or with similar names before september 7, are not endorsed by the Government and may expose the person to theft of money, so the population is warned not to be fooled by these strategies of manipulation and misinformation.

The Central Government indicates that "the use of bitcoin is optional and no one is obliged to use it, so it must be remembered that the dollar is the reference currency for prices, salaries and accounting records of the country...However, the circulation of bitcoin will help create more opportunities for trade, search for new partners, reduce costs for daily monetary operations and facilitate financial inclusion".
