The minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, informed that 300 young university students responded to the Ministry's call through the extraordinary call of the Human Capital Training program, to be part of the auditing of the 262 municipalities of the country, which will be in charge of the Dirección General de contabilidad Gubernamental (DGCG).

According to the Ministerio de Hacienda (MH), the mayors of the country's 262 municipalities received a fund of US$191.7 million during the Covid-19 quarantine period and so far the institution points out that the previous mayors have not accounted for the use of these resources.

For this reason, the ministry of Finance received the 300 young university students pursuing degrees in Business Administration and Public Accounting, who have a minimum of 90% of subjects passed, who are in the process of graduating or are close to graduation.

"This is a special edition of the Program, with which for the first time we will audit the use of funds of the 262 municipalities, we will verify that they have been used correctly", said Finance minister Alejandro Zelaya.

The scholarship holders will have the opportunity to put into practice the academic knowledge acquired in their training process in audits, supervision and control, with a jurisdictional approach to the execution of the resources transferred to the Municipal Governments.

In addition, the young participants will have the work experience that will allow them to work in the future in different public or private companies in the country.

The ministry of Finance assures that this first generation of scholarship holders will provide a space for future generations of professionals to learn first-hand about the administration and execution of public finances.
