Immigration forecasts that from december 15 to january 2, 2022 more than 350 thousand people will enter or leave the country

The general director of Immigration and Foreigners Affairs, Ricardo Cucalón, informed that for the period from december 15, 2021 to january 2, 2022, it is expected to register "more than 350 thousand people entering and leaving the national territory, a figure that represents an increase of 95% compared to the same period last year".

El Salvador remains a safe destination for travelers thanks to the strategies implemented by the Central Government.

The head of the branch highlighted that the service capacity has been strengthened in all land borders, air and sea ports, to ensure the entry and exit of nationals and foreigners to the salvadoran territory in an agile and orderly manner, as well as in the various branches of the Directorate General of Migration and Aliens, due to the increased demand for services during this season.

More than 400 immigration officers are providing service nationwide 24 hours a day, to serve thousands of nationals who will come to share with their families, friends and other loved ones during these holidays; as well as foreigners who have planned to visit our country for these festivities.

Likewise, the institution informed about the migratory flows from january to date, according to statistics, Migration has attended more than 4 million entries and exits of travelers between salvadorans and foreigners through the different borders; during this year, more than 1 million foreigners have visited El Salvador for tourism, work or business, major events such as the World Surfing Cup and the "Crypto Tourism" have greatly stimulated travel to the country.

For this Christmas and New Year's Eve holiday season, all borders will continue to provide 24-hour service. Additionally, on december 27 and 28, the branches of: Santa Ana, San Miguel, Usulután and Cascadas, for all users who need to carry out their migratory procedures such as: issuance of passports, pre-check, foreigners, review of notarial acts and others.
