El Salvador selected to lead Renewable Energy Assembly on january 15

El Salvador will chair the 12th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). More than 160 countries will participate in this event, including major world powers.

IRENA selected El Salvador to chair this important meeting. This reflects the important advances that the country has achieved in the development of renewable energies.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Hill Tinoco and the President of the Hydroelectric Executive Commission of the Lempa River (CEL), Daniel Álvarez, will be in charge of presiding over the XII Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency.

The officials will speak on january 15 and 16 about the transformation and energy independence being promoted by the Central Government.

The delegation of El Salvador will share with the world the historic changes that the country is undergoing to achieve a diversification of the energy matrix. In addition, they will seek to promote the change of laws that were obsolete to achieve three major objectives.

1-The ratification of electric energy as a public service for the salvadoran people

2- The promotion of more renewable energy projects, both public and private

3-The reaffirmation of the commitment to fight against climate change, in order to achieve an energy transition
