ASI expects economic and regulatory growth in 2022 to be 4.2%.

The Asociación Salvadoreña de Industriales (ASI), presented the fourth quarterly report of economic and regulatory performance of 2021, indicated that growth will be 4.2% for the current year 2022.

The ASI assures that by 2022, growth will be moderate in most countries worldwide, but in the Central American region, excluding the countries of Belize and the Dominican Republic, showed a growth of 6.7% for 2021 and for this year it will be 4.1%.

They added that the adjustment made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in November was a rate of 10%, similar to what the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR) had already projected at the end of last year, the World Bank had figures of 7.5% and 8%.

In addition, the industrial sector generated 187,961 jobs as of the third quarter of 2021. This means that 9,000 more new jobs were created compared to 2020.

On the subject of inflation, at the close of 2021 it showed a growth of 6.1%, due to factors such as the supply chain, volatility in the prices of raw materials; have to do with this phenomenon.

The institution said that in its report there are some factors to be more attentive to, such as the fiscal area, the IMF indicates that there are aspects that must be improved.
