Written by Evelyn Alas

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) presented a series of calculations on how the countries that make up the region will close 2021, measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

El Salvador, according to these ECLAC scenarios, had a positive variation of 10%. The country is located in the "Top Five" of the nations that had the best performance.

The country has made significant progress in overcoming the effect of the pandemic. This projection coincides with that of the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR), which had also been previously endorsed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, said that the country is moving up and the country is advancing step by step.

These results in the performance of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are reflected in the lives of salvadorans as an increase in employment. Data from the Instituto SalvadoreƱo del Seguro Social (ISSS) indicate that, as of november, workers enrolled in the system reached 903,995, which is 92,614 more than in 2020.

This year, El Salvador will once again be one of the engines driving regional growth. The BCR forecasts that the country will grow 4 % compared to 2021. With more strategic projects, public investment with a social focus, plus the confidence of companies and citizens, the country will continue on the right path.
