European Union has invested US$1,781.8 million in El Salvador

In the framework of the 10th anniversary of the Association Agreement between the European Union (EU) and Central America, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira, together with the Vice Minister of Economy, Mario Salazar, and the Director of Trade Agreements of the Ministry of Economy, Margarita Ortez, went to the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Legislative Assembly, to hold a working meeting where they presented their considerations for the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the agreement.

The Vice Minister of Economy, Salazar, affirmed that El Salvador would be the second Central American country to ratify the adhesion and took the opportunity to highlight data related to the investment of the European Union in our country, totaling US$1,781.8 million up to the third quarter of 2021, which represents 18% of the foreign direct investment in El Salvador.

"We are here to ask you to give a favorable opinion for Croatia's accession to the Association Agreement between the European Union and Central America", said the Vice Minister of Economy, who also highlighted the benefits of this protocol for salvadorans.

The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the European Union has been an important ally for El Salvador, in all senses, therefore, she affirmed that there is interest in working with all EU member states.

"When we received the accession of Croatia to this agreement that we already have, it filled us with joy we see it positive for our products, for our entrepreneurs is a win-win relationship", said Mira.

Croatia's accession to the Association Agreement between the European Union and Central America would imply, in terms of trade, an important opportunity for salvadoran exports.
