BCR forecasts private investment of US$2.2 billion in 2022

The President of the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR), Douglas Rodriguez, said in a morning interview that the institution foresees an investment by private companies of US$2.2 billion by 2022.

In 2021, US$2.4 billion was invested by private companies in strategic works, such as Bío Energy, Energías del Pacífico and Volaris.

It also said that in february 2022 it broke a record in exports, with US$614 million. The number of exporting companies has also grown, meaning that investors are interested in our country.

He says that this is not only in volume and price, but that the companies that are exporting are growing.

The BCR projects an economic growth of 3.2% for El Salvador in 2022, thanks to the increased coverage of vaccination against COVID-19 in the population, boosting public investment in infrastructure, private investment projects, exports, remittances.

He stated that the activity that contributed the most to the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2021 10.3%, was the manufacturing industry, which translates into more exports. It should be remembered that exports in 2021 were historic.

Likewise, the head of the BCR, indicates that there is a record of US$7,500 million in remittances in 2021.

In addition, he said that the health, security and education sectors are the pillars on which the Central Government has bet.
