The executive director of the Gremial de los Exportadores de El Salvador, (COEXPORT), Silvia Cuellar, said that exports grew 17% in the first quarter of 2022.

According to COEXPORT, more than US$1.8 billion in different products and services were sold to the world.

The products that El Salvador sells the most are textiles and clothing, followed by food, plastics, pharmaceuticals, paper and cardboard.

Cuellar, expressed that the new opportunities that are given in the country is to take advantage of the fact that it is a supplier of some products that help in the elaboration of the articles.

The costs of raw materials have influenced the prices of clothing to increase and therefore consumers pay more.

Likewise, the head of COEXPORT emphasized that one of the elements that have an impact on the increase of exports in the clothing sector are the own inputs that help to improve the increase of manufactured products.

She also added that another factor that favors exports is that the country already has its own designs, with its own fabrics and own elaboration and the technology that is added to the garments increase their value.

Among the countries where El Salvador sells more is the United States with 38% of exports, also Nicaragua and Costa Rica as well as some nations in Europe.
