This was confirmed by the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA) and affirms that during said period a total of 2,142,324 metric tons in imports and exports have been mobilized.
This means that between 13,000 and 14,000 tons of merchandise and raw materials pass through El Salvador's main maritime terminal every day.
The amount of cargo that has passed through the maritime terminal from january 1 to may 14 represents 40.1% of the 5,292,285 tons mobilized during the entire 2021, which is quite positive, since in the first months of the year the economic activity, in general, starts quite slow.
This indicates, according to CEPA records, that El Salvador is on track to exceed the volume and weight of goods and raw materials that the country exported and purchased from other countries throughout 2021, taking into account that both exports and imports generally increase in the second half of each year.
These results help the country in the midst of a global inflationary crisis, generated by the rise in international oil prices and the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
