Fuel prices to remain unchanged until august 31st

Written by Evelyn Alas

Ministerio de Economía (MINEC), informs that fuel prices will remain fixed for another three months until august 31, 2022.

Salvadorans who purchase premium gasoline in the central and western zones will pay only US$4.31 and in the eastern zone they will pay US$4.32 per gallon.

People who consume regular gasoline in the central, eastern and western zones of the country will be able to pay US$4.15 per gallon.

As for diesel, transporters will pay US$4.14 per gallon in the three zones of the country.

This price extension is due to the fact that the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, made the extension request to the Legislative Assembly, which was supported with 80 votes of the deputies of said body, thus, motorists in El Salvador will continue paying the lowest prices per gallon of fuel in the region, below US$5.

It is estimated that these fuel measures will benefit 1.2 million drivers, in addition to impacting the supply chain, the transportation of food and goods, collective transportation and the entire cost chain.

The teams of the Hydrocarbons and Mines Directorate of the Ministry of Economy, together with the Defensoría del Consumidor, carry out daily verifications that certify to the population the application of the Special Transitory Law to Fix Fuel Prices.
