Written by Evelyn Alas

With an investment of US$1 million, the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) announced that it will support the livestock sector in three programs.

First, they will start with the delivery of forage sorghum seed and improved pasture in order to support productivity, reducing production costs and improving the sector's income, benefiting 5 thousand breeders.

With the implementation of the Specialized Technical Assistance Program for Livestock, they will provide professional support for the production of milk and beef, improving the country's productivity and ensuring food security for salvadorans.

In addition, MAG will provide a multidisciplinary technical team made up of agronomists, veterinarians and zootechnicians.

The MAG calls on private enterprise to join this effort and work together to promote national agricultural development and thus ensure food security.

Also, as part of the efforts will be developed campaigns of vitaminizing  and deworming of cattle to improve health, nutrition and milk production in the country. With this, they expect to serve more than 100,000 head of cattle, benefiting more than 10,000 farmers, with an investment of more than US$200,000.

In addition, with an investment of US$350,000, the MAG's residue analysis laboratory will be strengthened to improve the export of dairy and meat products.
