Central Government assures that fuel prices will remain fixed until august

According to authorities of the Ministerio de Economía (MINEC), a new increase in fuel prices is expected, exceeding US$6 per gallon for super, regular and diesel gasoline.

They also reiterated that the current costs will not be affected because they will be fixed until August, due to the 11 economic measures implemented last march.

According to the authorities at Central American level the lowest fuel cost is in El Salvador, Costa Rica gasoline is at US$5.54 per gallon, in the country it is at US$4.15 per gallon.

Premium gasoline in Honduras is US$5.95 and diesel is US$5.10 and in the country regular gasoline is US$4.31 and diesel US$4.14 per gallon.

The director of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Henry Muller, expressed that the strong increase in fuel prices at international level is remarkable; however, in the country we continue maintaining prices that do not affect the pocket of salvadorans.

According to the most recent update of Oil Price Charts, the price of a barrel of Brent crude is at US$116.59, while the cost of the US equivalent WTI is at US$110.75 dollars.

Yesterday's prices were US$113.50 for a barrel of Brent and US$108.03 for a barrel of West Texas Intermediate. Both had an increase of more than one percent.
