Coffee from "Finca El Conacaste" achieved a price of US$72.20 per pound in the Electronic Auction of Winning Coffees of the Cup of Excellence El Salvador 2022 Contest, thus becoming the "Third highest price" in the 19 years that the event has been held.

The Consejo Salvadoreño del Café in conjunction with Cup of Excellence and Alliance for Coffee Excellence) held this day the ELECTRONIC AUCTION of the winning coffees of the 19th edition of Cup of Excellence El Salvador 2022.

The council expressed its satisfaction with the results obtained. The total pounds of coffee auctioned was 18,878.60 equivalent to 188.79 quintals, with an average price of US$12.93 per pound or US$1,293.33 per quintal, generating a total income of US$244,162.90.

In spite of current challenges; price increases, post-pandemic effects, armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and rising input prices, total revenues are significant, demonstrating that El Salvador continues to position itself with its quality and excellence in the international market with prices differentiated from those currently on the New York Stock Exchange.

It is important to note that buyers from China could not participate this year in the auction, due to new requirements demanded by that country, who represent between 30% and 40% of the key buyers of Cup of Excellence.

At the Auction 30 lots of the 27 Cup of Excellence coffees with scores above 87 points were offered to buyers registered through an electronic platform certified and administered internationally by ACE, with a base price of US$5.00 per pound for coffees with scores between 87 and 87.99; US$6.00 per pound for coffees with scores between 88 and 89.99 per pound; and US$6.50 for coffees with scores above 90.
