Housing and FSV have invested US$500 million in housing loans and benefits

The minister of Housing, Michelle Sol, informed this morning that together with the Fondo Social para la Vivienda (FSV), they have invested US$500 million to benefit 33,000 families with credits, contributions for construction or improvement, deeds, and resettlement.

The FSV has achieved US$452 million granting loans to approximately 21,500 families, 96% of which are of social interest and 53% of the loans are granted to women.

The official affirmed that the FSV is committed to facilitating the payment of the clients and that the housing delinquency rate is quite low. They now have approximately 4,100 payment points.

We have other programs such as Casa Joven and Casa Mujer to encourage important sectors of society and make it easier for them to buy a home. With Casa Joven we have deeded $92 million with 4,500 loans.

Sol informed that with the Casa Mujer program, we have deeded US$60 million with 3,500 loans to this sector of the population.

Among the programs with credit improvements to which salvadorans can apply are: Mi Vivienda, which with financing from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), prioritizes low-income families to provide them with loans at low interest rates.

This program covers 10 departments in the country: Sonsonate, Santa Ana, Chalatenango, Cabañas, Morazán, La Paz, San Miguel, Morazán, La Unión and La Libertad (excluding Santa Tecla and Antiguo Cuscatlán). These loans start at 4% interest with zero premium, for new housing up to US$30 thousand.

Casa Joven and Casa Mujer so that families can fulfill their dream of owning their own home. "Casa Joven we have deeded US$92 million with 4,500 credits and Casa Mujer we have deeded US$60 million with 3,500 credits.

The minister informed that the Fondo Social para la Vivienda has started with the creation of the digital file, to modernize and streamline the processes and time for credit approval.

Clients do not have to come to the FSV during the whole process, they can do it from their home or office through the web page http://portal.fsv.gob.sv. or through the FSV APP.
