Extension of economic measures goes into effect

Today, the extension of the economic measures to face the global inflation, promoted by the central government, came into effect with the objective of helping the pockets of salvadoran families.

The minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, presented 3 draft decrees to the Legislative Assembly, to guarantee that the economic measures to contain fuel prices continue to benefit the salvadoran population, within the framework of the world inflationary crisis.

"President Nayib Bukele's instruction is to accompany the salvadoran people, seeking the solutions we have to contain the effects of the inflationary crisis", said minister Zelaya.

One of the initiatives is aimed at maintaining fixed fuel prices, of which the Government of President Nayib Bukele will continue to absorb the increase in the international price of oil, through tax credits to fuel importers.

Likewise, the extension of the Temporary Regime of Suspension of Application of the Charge Related to the Cuenta Especial de Estabilización y Fomento Económico t (FEFE) and the Temporary Regime of Suspension of Application of the Contribución Especial para la Estabilización de las Tarifas del Servicio de Transporte Público de Pasajeros de Tipo Colectivo y Masivo (COTRANS) was also requested to the legislative plenary.

The three decrees presented by minister Zelaya were discussed and approved by the deputies and establish an extension that will last until october 20 of this year.

"We find ourselves in a global crisis and we know that its effects will not remain in the short term. The salvadoran people can rest assured that the Government of President Bukele is ready to continue protecting its economy", said the official.

According to the head of this Ministry, the implementation of anti-inflationary measures represents a fiscal sacrifice of around $270 million, which has been sustained thanks to the improvement in tax collection and the fight against tax evasion of this Government.
