This is the most awaited month by people due to this remuneration that is delivered from the 12th to the 20th, in El Salvador the payment of Christmas bonuses is made based on articles 196 to 202 of the Labor Code in force which is handled as follows:
Art. 196.- Every employer is obliged to give to its workers, as Christmas bonus, a bonus for each year of work.
For example, workers with 1 year but less than 3 years of service will receive a Christmas bonus equivalent to 15 days' salary.
In other words, if Maria earns a minimum salary of US$365, the calculation for 15 days of salary is as follows: 15 days x US$12.16 (daily salary) = US$182.40 (Christmas bonus).
Workers with more than 3 years of work or more but less than 10 years of work, their Christmas bonus will correspond to a salary of 19 days.
For example, if Juan earns US$365 for his Christmas bonus, the following calculation is made: 19 days x $12.16 = US$231.04 (Christmas bonus).
Employees with more than 10 years of service receive a Christmas bonus equivalent to a salary of 21 days.
The calculation is made for 21 days x $12.1667 = US$255.50 (Christmas bonus).
