MITUR expects the arrival of 230 thousand tourists in december 2022

The economic recovery of El Salvador, and tourism in particular, continues to advance by leaps and bounds, proof of this is that the Central Government expects the arrival of 230,000 tourists in december, so the new goal of reaching 2.4 million visitors during 2022 is getting closer every day.

This was confirmed by the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, who emphasized: they expect to close with 2.4 million visitors, which means that we are almost at 100% recovery of 2019, this will be equivalent to more than US$2,400 million in foreign exchange earnings.

The official explained that this new projection was made after the initial goal of 1.9 million tourists was surpassed in October, which left US$1.9 billion in foreign exchange, so the projection was raised to 2.4.

She explained that november was the month with the highest number of visitors, with more than 200,000, and they expect more than 230,000 visitors in december.

According to the head of tourism, this higher number of visits is also due to all the events that El Salvador is hosting, such as surfing tournaments, Bitcoin conferences, medical and financial congresses.

In similar terms, the President of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA) Federico Anliker, stated that from january 1 to november 30, the Aeropuerto Internacional San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez has received 3.1 million incoming, outgoing and transit passengers.
