The institution so far verified 21 cases where the prices of various products have been increased, to list: edible oils with an increase of 21%, in eggs, there is an increase of up to 34% and also in milk of 6%. Likewise, in the price of vegetables, such as tomatoes, there has been a 50% increase in price.
There was also an increase in the prices of medical supplies, in the case of alcohol gel of up to 18%, and KN95 surgical masks went from costing US$1.00 to US$2.50.
The unjustified increase may result in a fine of up to 500 minimum wages for the whole month of July. The Defensoría del Consumidor (DC), has been verifying that the prices of the above mentioned products have increased between 18% and 33%.
