The Ministerio de Hacienda and the Defensoría del Consumidor informed that they have received multiple complaints in the last hours about undue charges for liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, with prices outside those regulated by the General Subsidy and Targeted Subsidy Law.

In view of this problem, they have initiated joint tasks to identify the distributors of LPG that make illegal charges to the salvadoran population.

The latest prices published on january 31, 2023 correspond to the 25-pound presentation US$11.13 and US$3.09 with targeted subsidy.

For those who prefer the 35-pound drum of gas at US$15.50 to the public and US$7.46 with targeted subsidy.

The 20 pound drum costs US$8.98 and US$0.94 with the benefit granted by the Central Government and the 10 pound presentation costs US$4.61.

The institutions detail that they will make use of all legal and administrative tools to sanction all those who make charges not allowed by the laws in force, affecting the pockets of salvadoran families.

In addition, they call on the salvadoran population to use the complaint channels to report any abuse to whatsapp of the Defensoría del Consumidor: 7844-1482 and call center 910.
