Farmers in Chalatenango, La Libertad and San Salvador are receiving their 2023 Agricultural Packages, which include 25 pounds of certified corn seed, a quintal of 15-15-15 fertilizer, a liter of foliar fertilizer and a seed treater; raw materials that will help increase crop productivity.

More than 95,000 small producers of basic grains in region II began to withdraw their inputs, there are more than 70 warehouses enabled in the departments of Chalatenango, La Libertad and San Salvador; and in order to ensure that everything is developed in an efficient and agile manner, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Oscar Guardado, verified the operation of some warehouses.

During the tour of the warehouse of La Palma, the head of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) explained that his visits to the distribution points respond to the instructions of President Nayib Bukele to support salvadoran farmers, to ensure the supply of basic grains for families.

He also said that since the arrival of President Bukele the Agricultural Packages program has been improved, and proof of this is that now the warehouses are more and the process is faster.

"We are delivering more and better inputs to increase production, just as we are promoting Good Agricultural Practices to increase productivity and take care of their health, because ensuring the welfare of the population is a State responsibility", said minister Guardado.

The minister also stressed that to achieve an increase of up to 20% in production, this year more than 150 technicians from CENTA, ISTA and ENA students are providing assistance with emphasis on Good Agricultural Practices, because one of the priorities of the Government of President Bukele is to safeguard the health of farmers.

All the improvements of the Agricultural Packages program is thanks to the coordinated work of government institutions, such as the Policía Nacional and the Fuerza Area, and the municipalities, who in addition to supporting with logistics have trained collaborators to accompany producers in the process of withdrawal of agricultural inputs and planting process, if required.

As part of this coordinated work developed with the municipalities and the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador in favor of the population, the head of MAG was accompanied by Deputy Saúl Mancía and Mayor Maribel Escobar.

Deputy Mancía reiterated the support of the Assembly to the agricultural sector, hence the approval of the new procurement law that facilitates the institutions to make acquisitions for the benefit of salvadorans. Meanwhile, the mayor of La Palma thanked the MAG for the timely delivery and for the technical work they do with farmers to achieve food sovereignty in the municipality and throughout the country.
