CDC calls for raising the minimum wage to US$456.20

In a press conference, members of the Centro para la Defensa del Consumidor (CDC), requested the authorities to increase the minimum wage by 25% in order to be able to face the current market prices.

The cost of the basic food basket for consumers up to july of this year according to the Oficina Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos (ONEC) is US$255.35, which means that more than 70% of the minimum salary is being spent on the cost of the basic food basket.
