Did you know what the new Estadio Nacional Jorge “El Mágico” González will look like?

The President of the Instituto Nacional de los Deportes de El Salvador (INDES), Yamil Bukele, informed that approximately US$22 million will be invested in the project to improve the Estadio Nacional Jorge "El Mágico" González .

The works will be executed with funds from a loan signed with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), amounting to US$115.2 million, earmarked for the Infrastructure Construction and Rescue Program for Sports Venues at the National Level.

The Minister of Finance and President of CABEI's Board of Governors, Alejandro Zelaya, was present at the announcement of the final design of the stadium remodeling project.

"The project includes the construction of a special parking lot for buses, so that athletes can enter the stadium without inconveniences. There will also be a parking lot for 180 vehicles and all the facilities will have access for people with disabilities", said the president of INDES.

The new facilities will have six commercial premises and a restaurant area, as well as an educational games area, a mini-cinema for 30 people and a recreational area. The work will begin next october with the demolition of the bleachers; subsequently, in February 2022, the remodeling work will begin.

The stadium houses the athletics, wrestling, bodybuilding, rowing and shooting sports federations, and will include the demolition of the bleachers, laying of first-world natural grass, replacement of the athletics track, improvement of the irrigation system, lighting, and sewage and wastewater pipes.

Today must be a day of great joy. I am really very happy because sports are advancing...If we accompany our athletes, they will have good results", said the President of INDES.

The official announced that a museum dedicated to the emblematic salvadoran soccer player Jorge "El Mágico" González, whose name was dedicated to this sports arena that will be renovated, will be built.

"Too pleased, there are many emotions that I can be feeling at this moment. I thank God for belonging to such a beautiful country, like El Salvador, and for being taken into account", declared "El Mágico" González.

In addition, the remodeling project will be carried out with the collaboration of the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP), the Dirección General de Centros Penales (DGCP), through the Plan Cero Ocio, Alcaldía de San Salvador and INDES.
