Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivers seed capital in support of entrepreneurs

Written by Evelyn Alas

The Chancellery of the Republic of El Salvador held an entrepreneurship fair and delivered seed capital, as part of the Reintegration Program for Returned Programs "Transforming Lives".

"There is no better country to live in than our El Salvador. I thank all of you for your participation and commitment to enhance your knowledge and validate your desire to move forward", said the Vice Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility, Cindy Portal.

The beneficiaries also received training in gender, teamwork, prevention of irregular migration and finance; 75 entrepreneurs will receive support in different areas.

More than $150,000 was invested in the program, with support from the United Nations Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), to promote businesses in areas such as agriculture, food, cosmetology and textiles.

"Migrants enrich the culture, contribute innovative ideas and are part of the country's productive force. I would like to thank the participants for their contributions, for being the driving force behind the country's economy", said IOM Chief of Mission Nicola Graviano.

At the event, which was also attended by the WFP representative, Riaz Lodhi, the entrepreneurship ideas were presented: sales of seeds and nuts, key chains and nostalgic products, costume jewelry and other products.

These actions reflect the commitment of President Bukele's government, which seeks not only to facilitate business opportunities for these families, but also to incorporate them and make them another productive force for the country's development.
