MAG launches "SIAM" application to market farmers' products

Written by Evelyn Alas

The agricultural sector, which is growing steadily, has the Sistema de Información Agroclimática y de Mercadeo (SIAM)  where producers can market their products without intermediaries at national and international level.

The SIAM application was presented today in the municipality of Nueva Concepción, Chalatenango, with the participation of the ad-honorem vice minister of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG), Óscar Domínguez; the secretary of Innovation, Daniel Méndez; and the governor of the department of Chalatenango, Amílcar Monge.

The application will allow producers and consumers to access updated national market prices, a directory of producers, agro-climatic information, data by category, and international price reports, according to the Vice minister of Agriculture and Livestock.

SIAM is an application directly for you, the producers, where we give you targeted alerts. There are recommendations for cattle and schedules for vaccination dates, according to the productive sector selected", explained Domínguez.

These actions are part of the digital transformation process developed by the Central Government, which has placed the country at the digital forefront in the region.

"The world is changing day by day and El Salvador is not going to be left behind. With the launch of the SIAM application we are going to revolutionize the dynamics and operation of the agricultural sector. As a secretariat, we reiterate our support to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock with the objective of strengthening the country's productive sectors", explained the Secretary of Innovation.

The Central Government not only provides inputs and technical assistance to the country's agricultural producers, but also facilitates access to new technologies with updated information in order to achieve maximum production yields and thereby ensure food security for salvadorans.
