The minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, stated in an interview that during the Tax Amnesty period, they have been able to collect to date US$44 million that taxpayers had not paid as part of their tax obligations.

As of november 11, the Ministry of Finance had received US$14 million from taxpayers who have made use of the Tax Amnesty; that is, the forgiveness of fines and interest for not having declared and paid their taxes on time.

As of this date, US$44 million will be received in the State's coffers thanks to the Amnesty, of which US$14 million have been received because the remaining amount will be paid in installments.

He also stated that since october 15, when the Tax Amnesty came into effect, 57 thousand taxpayers have taken advantage of this payment modality.

Zelaya calls on taxpayers, whether natural or legal persons, to approach the Ministry of Finance to take advantage of the Amnesty period and avoid that in future inspections they may be found guilty of defrauding the State.

The Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII) and the Dirección General de Aduanas  DGA), have given the opportunity to companies and individuals to regulate their tax situation, applicable to those returns that were filed on april 30.

Individuals or companies that avail themselves of this benefit have until december 10, 2021 to catch up with their payments to the Treasury.
