SIMEL platform to help monitor employment indicators in the country

The Defensoría del Consumidor (DC), informed that the Sistema de Información de Mercado Laboral (SIMEL), a platform to know the statistical indicators of employment, unemployment and other employability factors, has been enabled; likewise, it seeks to enable access to more updated information on the Salvadoran labor market.

The Vice President of the Republic, Félix Ulloa, said that a tool of this nature does not arise spontaneously, it is the product of a work team. He sai d that the team of the Ministry of Labor, managed in 10 months to implement the platform, to show how useful it will be for researchers.

This is how El Salvador becomes the first country in Central America and the second in Latin America to have a virtual tool that monitors employment indicators and the labor market.

Now, El Salvador has a mechanism that reports, in an easy and interactive way, more than 40 labor market indicators. In addition, the strategy has the technical support of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The head of mission of the United Nations Organization for Migration (IOM), Nicola Graviano, assured that SIMEL will provide very important information in El Salvador and will facilitate the analysis, closing gaps to strengthen the demand of the labor market.

The Minister of Labor, Rolando Castro, expressed that the country, with the implementation of this tool, will join the group of countries that manage better statistics by accessing an internationally certified platform. The Labor Market Information System is made up of workers' organizations, think tanks, academies, employers' associations, international cooperation and government institutions.
