EOR reports 14,630.3 MWh of scheduled injections in the MER

The Ente Operador del Mercado Eléctrico Regional (EOR), informed that it has reported a new historical record of injections in the Mercado Eléctrico Regional (MER).

Reaching 14,630.3 Megawatt hours (MWh) of programmed injections. This demonstrates a positive behavior in the growth of the MER despite the recession caused by the 2020 pandemic effect.

This figure has surpassed the operating day as of december 20, 2021 with 14,238.9 MWh.

The MER is based on the Framework Treaty approved by representatives of the governments of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama in may 1996.

The general design of the MER is conceptualized as a seventh market, superimposed on the six existing national markets or systems, with regional regulation, in which the agents authorized by the EOR carry out international transactions of electric energy in the Central American region.

The EOR, as market administrator, is responsible for the dispatch and exchange of energy between countries and has its headquarters in San Salvador, El Salvador.

These bodies are also supported by the Consejo de Electrificación de América Central (CEAC), which, among other activities, conducts studies on indicative planning and regional electrification projects to encourage their development.
