MOP enables passage between Tonacatepeque and San José Guayabal with a US$724 thousand investment

The Minister of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez, leads the rehabilitation of the crossing between the municipalities of Tonacatepeque and San José Guayabal through the new bridge over the El Sillero River.

The total investment in the construction of the new bridge over the El Sillero River is approximately US$724,000. The useful life of the structure is expected to be 100 years.

The bridge over the El Sillero river, Tonacatepeque, has a length of 22 meters long by 4.50 meters wide, this work is supported on two abutments and this replaces the previous one.

The previous structure was destroyed by the effects of tropical storm Amanda in 2020.

This structure will make trade between the municipalities of San José Guayabal and Tonacatepeque, which was interrupted by the collapse of the bridge due to tropical storm Amanda, more agile.

Around 105,000 inhabitants of the area will benefit from this new bridge over the El Sillero river. FOVIALITO also participated in the construction of the bridge.

The structure of the bridge over the El Sillero River can support up to 40 tons of weight. Therefore, light and cargo vehicles will be able to travel over it.
