Financial support and employability programs for salvadoran women

Written by Evelyn Alas

The National Housing System reports multiple achievements in favor of female heads of household through its different programs. The Fondo Social para la Vivienda (FSV) reports that of the US$435 million approved for loans, 56% are for women.

In other initiatives such as the construction of new housing, the delivery of deeds, resettlement and contributions, there is a significant participation of women among the beneficiaries, at least 40%.

The head of the Ministerio de Vivienda (MIVI), has highlighted on multiple occasions how the efforts of the National System help a notorious majority of mothers in San Salvador, Nuevo Cuscatlán, Santa Ana, among other communities.

Meanwhile, the Ministerio de Agricultura (MAG) continues to implement programs such as Rural Adelante and RECLIMA, where the authorities are encouraging more women to benefit, either directly with their families or by strengthening support for organizations formed by these agricultural producers, in a proportion of 40 to more than 50%.

The reforestation programs of the Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL) provide sources of employment for women in the communities with the maintenance tasks (which are daily, all year ).

They then replicate the benefit among their neighbors with food security activities and by giving them more options for earning income.

These programs allow salvadoran mothers to find conditions to build a better future for their children.
