Garments, textiles and plastics are the most exported from january to july 2022

The President of the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR), Douglas Rodriguez, informed this morning that the accumulated exports from january to july 2022 grew 17% compared to the same period last year.

There was a 15% growth in exports between maquila and manufacturing industry. The manufacturing industry, which accounts for 75% of total exports, has a 15% growth, accumulating US$3,390 million. Among the products that stand out in this area are plastics 36%, textiles 20%, clothing 7%.

The maquila from january to july of this year accumulated US$859 million with a growth of 15% and the products that stand out in this sector are electrical capacitors 17%, garments 9%.

In addition, agriculture, which represents 5% of total exports, accumulated US$212 million, recorded a growth of 46%, its products coffee 67%, cereals and vegetables 61%, oranges and lemons 35%. The rest of the sectors accumulated US$33 million from january to july and their growth has been 595%.

Likewise, they highlight that 3,291% in exports of electric energy, due to the fact that El Salvador can produce energy and satisfy the national demand, as well as export it.

In this same period, the total number of companies registered to export is 2,126, registering an increase of 59 companies dedicated to transfer salvadoran products to other countries.

So far this year, exports have reached major countries such as: United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Germany, Belgium, Costa Rica, Mexico and the exportable basket is made up of 835 products. It is noteworthy that 19 countries are receiving Salvadoran products as of this year, including Hungary, Tanzania and Nieves.
