BancoAgrícola receives recognition for being "The best bank in El Salvador" in the Euromoney 2021 Awards

For its leadership during the pandemic, commitment to digital transformation and channel innovation, and its initiatives for financial inclusion, BancoAgrícola received recognition, once again, for being "the best bank in El Salvador" in the Euromoney Awards for Excellence Country 2021.

The british magazine highlighted the bank's digital transformation strategy, continuing with the work of consolidating and strengthening both physical and virtual channels, which allow greater coverage and accompany customers in their daily lives, respond to their needs, promote financial inclusion and promote digital adoption.

For BancoAgrícola, advances in technology allow reaching usually excluded populations with financial services, therefore, the promotion of digital financial services and digital adoption become a priority.

The bank constantly invests in the development of tools that facilitate the lives of its customers and partners, and their access to the formal financial system. In 2020, the amount of disbursement between projects, initiatives and workshops to promote digital transformation was more than US$8 million, with this investment the bank achieved a 94.7% increase in digital users with Cuenta Fácil, with more than 150 thousand new affiliates at the end of 2020. This 2021 an investment of more than US$12 million is projected, and between 2020 and 2025, the total investment will be more than US$49 million.

With this transformation strategy, the bank promotes digital adoption, working continuously with value delivery, the acquisition of 100% digital products and the strengthening of digital payment ecosystems.

Some initiatives that stand out are:

  • QR Technology: in 2020 evolved the payment platform, enriching QR functionalities through Dynamic QR and QR Distributor for supermarkets, gas stations and stores.
  • Wompi: in July 2020, the bank launched a tool that offers a new way to sell online, whether or not our clients have a website. Wompi works in a 100% self-manageable way, with payment links that can be shared through a link or a QR code. It also allows to add an electronic payment button on the business' websites; and the newest modality of receiving payments through API, which allows to customize the electronic payment experience in the merchant's own app, with few lines of code. Customers can pay with Bancoagrícola credit and debit cards and also pay in installments.

The british magazine also recognized Banco Agrícola for its results during the period under evaluation, managing to maintain leadership in the banking sector with a 29.4% share in deposits and 27.9% in loans.

They also have the largest national coverage with more than 1,700 traditional service points such as branches, ATMs and financial correspondents; and through digital channels with the Mobile Banking App, e-banking and virtual branches to provide the best service and a wide offer to more than 1.3 million customers.
