US$11 million will be invested in this project to ensure that the work is of high quality and improves circulation for all the inhabitants of the sector and tourists traveling to Guatemala. More than 88,000 inhabitants will benefit from the project.
This is the last phase of the paving project for the approximately 12 kilometer long road, which will include a series of works such as the widening of the road, improvement of the drainage system, and the construction of a 16 meter bridge.
This work will improve connectivity between El Salvador and Guatemala, with a comfortable and safe paved road. This project was promised to the inhabitants of Chalchuapa.
Last year the first kilometers of paved road of this new route that will improve connectivity and regional trade were delivered. This road was in poor condition and without signage. During the winter it was very difficult to travel through the sector due to potholes and the accumulation of water that put drivers at risk.
Another MOP logistics project under construction is the new General Manuel José Arce binational bridge, located between the La Hachadura border in Ahuachapán and the Pedro de Alvarado border in Guatemala.
