Banco Promerica El Salvador and Dutch Business Development Bank (FMO) signed an important agreement to finance loans for the development, promotion, and promotion of business loans to SMEs for an additional US$30 million, for a total of US$50 million over the last 4 years. These loans are part of Banco Promerica and FMO's strategy to support the SME sector, especially in its reactivation after the Pandemic.

"FMO is a key ally for Grupo Promerica and thanks to the confidence in our Institution, a new availability of resources is opened for the support of SMEs, green credits and the advancement of women. This disbursement is important and is in line with our strategy of assisting in the economic and sustainable reactivation of El Salvador. Our commitment is to promote development and well-being in all the nine countries in which we operate", said Lázaro Figueroa, CEO of Banco Promerica El Salvador.

The alliance between both banking entities is at a regional level with Grupo Promerica, with a total of US$350 million for the development and strengthening of the three pillars of action: SMEs, green loans, and the advancement of women.

FMO is the Dutch Business Development Bank, with investments in more than 85 countries. As a leading impact investor, it supports sustainable private sector growth in developing countries and emerging markets by investing in entrepreneurs and ambitious projects that support SMEs to achieve sustainable, environmentally and socially responsible growth. FMO focuses on three sectors that have a high development impact: financial institutions, energy and agribusiness, food and water. With a committed portfolio of 10.4 billion euros, it is one of the largest bilateral private sector development banks in the world.

In El Salvador, the excellent financial relationship with FMO began in july 2017, with the signing of a financing for SMEs and green loans for US$20 million destined, on this first occasion, to support sustainable initiatives, promoting the generation of sustainable ecological projects and energy benefits, as well as the strengthening of growth and expansion projects for SMEs.

In addition, Banco Promerica adopted best practices to support the advancement of women, making it eligible for funds with a gender focus. These funds will be used to support women to improve and guarantee their access to the economy, promote their leadership, and build more resilient businesses to manage the impacts of the pandemic.

Banco Promerica is permanently working on actions oriented to the needs of its clients, offering integral support to SMEs in these times of great economic challenges, providing them with financing, support and training to contribute to their growth and development.
