The President of Banco de Desarrollo de El Salvador (BANDESAL), Juan Pablo Durán, said in a morning interview that they have placed around US$200 million in credits that are already being used for the economic development of the country.

In addition, Durán said that the institution is the sole administrator of the Fideicomiso para la Recuperación de las Empresas Salvadoreñas (FIREMPRESA) and through this program they have been able to place more than US$500 million in credit portfolio.

Likewise, the head of BANDESAL, said that they are not only trying to grant funds to Micro and Small Entrepreneurs (MYPE), to carry out their Bankable Business Plan, they are looking for ways to train them and make the experience productive.

He also explained that their transactions are to promote the business sector; they are not funded with savings, but with international support; they back up productive credits with partial guarantees; and they provide business training.

Durán said that BANDESAL is transforming every day, because they seek to have a digitalized and more accessible banking for salvadorans.

He said that within a month they will open in the department of Santa Ana, the Centro de Entrenamiento Móvil (CEDE Móvil). Regarding housing projects, he commented that they are supporting the financing of social housing construction.
