The Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE) in coordination with the Unidad Normativa de Adquisiciones y Contrataciones de la Administración Pública (UNAC) developed the Supply and Demand 2022 Meeting in the eastern zone.

Thirty MSEs from the eastern region had the opportunity to offer their products and services to 20 Procurement and Contracting Units of the same number of State institutions.

In addition, a discussion was held for the UACIS in order to raise their awareness on the topic of public procurement in favor of MSEs, which was given by UNAC technicians.

With this type of activities, contracts for more than US$300 thousand in public purchases and US$70 thousand among private companies have been generated, in addition; US$107.7 million in purchases in the COMPRASAL system that institutions have made to MSEs up to december of last year were reported.

This meeting is framed within an innovative concept, as it is a space for public-private purchasing areas to expand their supplier base, as well as to provide an opportunity for MSEs to present their goods and services to UACIs and companies seeking new suppliers.

Through Article 39-C of the Public Administration Procurement and Contracting Law (LACAP), it is established that Public Administration entities and Municipalities must "Acquire or contract at least 25% of the annual budget allocated for procurement and contracting of goods and services from Micro and Small National Enterprises, provided that they guarantee the quality of the goods and services".
