Disbursements for the four banks last month were US$6.5 million for agriculture, US$1.9 million for micro companies, US$3.7 million for small and medium-sized companies (PYMES) and US$2.1 million for individuals.
The BFA is the main financial support for food production in El Salvador, with an emphasis on the rural sector, facilitating access to credit for agricultural producers.
During 2022, BFA reports an 8.8% growth in loans disbursed to the agricultural sector compared to the same period in 2021.
This year, the Banco de Fomento Agropecuario, aligned with the Master Plan for Agricultural Rescue of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) and with the objective of increasing the benefit for new sectors, through the Legislative Assembly, the ceiling of subsidized credits was increased with a preferential interest rate of 4% and 5%.
